Descriptor: Adult(s)
Description: The largest European bark beetle of 6-9 mm in length. The body is robust, cylindrical, black or dark brown, covered with tiny yellowish hair. Elytra are wide, cylindrical and uniformly rounded at end with rows of shallow punctures and the declivity is covered with reddish hair. The interstices have fine tubercles and hairs, rear section of elytra densely covered with long rust-coloured hairs; Budapest Horvath.
