Compartmentalization Of Decay In Trees (CODIT)

Descriptor: Research
Description: Decay spread to the center of the beech at left. Before it was wounded, this tree was healthy from bark to pith, while the beech on the right already had a central column of altered wood. The drill wounds reached the center of both trees, but discolored and decayed wood associated with wounds did not penetrate the central column of the altered tree.
