Compartmentalization Of Decay In Trees (CODIT)

Descriptor: Research
Description: After a tree is wounded, a wall 4 forms, as it did in this oak. Radial shakes often develop at the edges of the wound, where the pen and pencil are pointing. When pressure occurs due to heat, cold or felling, shakes may split outward. These splits are called frost cracks.
