Description: Fertilizers or other chemical amendments are sometimes added to growing media during the mixing process. Dolomite is used to supply calcium and magnesium and raise the low pH. Slow-release fertilizers are composed of resin-coated pellets which release the mineral nutrients as a function of temperature and moisture.
